Default First Drive

I took it out for a drive today to gas up the tank and WOW it has a lot of pep and throttle response is great. Still got lots of tuning to do and set it up for the turbo. Good shot of her big butt!

Driving impression, I took it out for a 15-20 min. drive to tune the ve table. All I can say about that is WOW upon WOW I got it out on the highway and opened it up and it went right up to the target 4 psi boost and the car jumped literally as for the structural mods I did this is no flexy flyer it is very solid and grounded in the curves. I do have some smoking from the turbo after boost and hard acceleration and dissapates quickly after I let off so I suspect my rebuilt sat on the shelf for 20+ years turbo is not my long term solution so I will be looking for a replacement in the long term. Now I will pull some intake piping to see is I have any oil contamination in the intake. I have loaded a new ve table analyzed from that drive and I can tell the motor already runs better. More to come

Got a big bug worked out today I had the oil tank breather hooked up wrong resulting in smoke out of the exhaust and now that that is vented to ambient the smoke is gone WOO HOO! Still sorting out a throttle body issue but that will be taken care of soon.

Had a guy in a buick try to pull with me yesterday I went by him so fast he was a blur, but I know he was trying to stay with me because he was pumping the steering wheel trying to get his car to go faster and it was funny to watch.

Well the drivetrain part of this saga draws to an end I got the last parts I needed today and the motor is running fine and pulls strong. I still have some electrical issues to work out the wipers will cycle when I tweek the the mirrors or hit the horn and the fresh air blower will not work even though the light is on on the controls. The next point of order is to get some wheels on this thing I am leaning towards some fuchs replicas (not Jeffs) and new tires, then the interior is last.

Well as a result of a scare the motor is back out and I guess the silver lining is that all that mess under the intercooler there (coil and dizzy) are gone and electronic ignition is going in the only thing that will be there is the crank trigger sensor so in about a week and a half I will have more pics to post and a new pic of the engine bay to post as I am going to try to clean up my wiring some more. The bracket for the coil pack will be set up for 2 as the new motor will be twin plug. Oh yes the planning is underway.

Some pics of my EDIS install working on it while I wait on parts. The harness, the module installed, the coil pack.

I saw some of those posts over at the pelican site and felt that they were unwarranted. As a cab owner I can tell you that I admire your workmanship AND your car. Who cares what others think, IT"S YOUR CAR!! I have built street rods, customs, muscle cars, motorcycles...you name it. They were ALL MINE and I built them the way I wanted. You know the old saying, "those who can...do. Those who can't ....teach. And those who can't teach....teach gym". Your car looks great, build it the way you want and enjoy it.
