This week's Comparison: 3.2 Carrera vs DB7 Vantage
This morning I went out early to fill up at a couple of stations to get a >93 octane blend. I then cruised up PCH through the fog in a couple of places and was headed back home up Palomar Airport Rd, a pretty large road with a 55 mph limit, and it was pretty empty. Except for a AM DB7 Vantage. As luck would have it, we both ended up at a stoplight. We both hit it pretty good and I was ahead until I shifted to 3rd-at 75ish, he passed me. We ended up at another stoplight and did it again, same thing.
So we pull up at the next light and I said, "well, she is 25 years old, afterall". He said "oh, she still LOOKS good". I don't think he got my point, but I felt like Ruby put up a good showing. I think the AM's are probably pushing 4000lbs and probably have a bit more than 400HP, so the power to weight isn't that far off.
Stupid fun.

Yo Ed,
I think you did us 3.2 owners proud. Stupid or not you have to do what you have to do. Besting him up to 75 is real good and it is an old car. Astons are nice but we know what car you want to take home to mother. Dwight Johnson

He was walking away from me from 75 on, we probably shut down at 110 or so. There's no doubt it is a more powerful and faster car. The point is that my car was able to hold its own to 72 or 73mph.

i think Astons are pumped up by the brts as it is all they have to be proud of .. no way does it deserve a supercar title or even an exotic ... it is an up market car but nothing special ...
Not to take anything away from ed of course .. The brits just pumping the aston is an exotic just gets under my skin .. i guess they don't have much to be proud of in the way of cars so hang their hat on whatever they can ...
look at top gear .. they compare a GT3RS with a Lambourghin Gallardo Super Legre (sp) and an Astom Martin ..... give me a break and they had to use a racing variant of the DB9 to be able to compete ,,, and keep in mind .. I was Born in the UK so have nothing against them personally

Same goes with Ferrari ...until I saw the Enzo years ago. UGH!! The design team must have been on one of those long italian holidays.

I know a couple-they're in their mid-late 70's now. Live 1/2 the year on the water in San Diego, the other 1/2 in Vail, CO. They have a good life. She drives a DB9, which I think is so cool. I give her a bad time as it makes 2 trips a year to Vail and back and then it gets driven daily 1 mile to the yacht club for coffee each morning for 6 months while in San Diego. Like "the little old lady from Pasadena", only the 2009 version.
And, she just put wheels on the car too-in order to dress it up(!).
PS- He drives an '83 Cab that he's had since new. Totally stock and well kept.
