Default New memeber 930 project

Just wanted to say hello to the forums and get some input on my latest project.

I used to work on this car at my shop years ago (1993-1994) and actually did some track days in it at NHIS. The owner blew the top end (1994) of one of the cylinders and pulled the engine and trans out of it. While the engine was stored for several years in a storage trailer, something happened and all the drive train was lost.

I saw the shell at an impound yard about 2 months ago and inquired, thinking it was in impound (obvious thought) and it was not. It was still owned by the same guy that took it off the road 16 years ago. Well over the past couple of months negotiations took place and I got it delivered today.

Here's a few pics here.

Oh, I am aware that it's going to be a project. I used to have a shop years ago, so I build cars for "fun" now. I ride stunt bikes, so during the winter, I need something to keep my mind busy.

I'm sure I'll be looking for some sources for parts/info soon. I need to dig into it a bit in the next few weeks and debate on a drive line.

This was more of a personal find for me because I actually drove the car almost 20 years ago and couldn't believe it just appeared again. It was a must do buy.

I like your S1000RR - I have one too, I understand I was the first guy in the US to put a deposit on one. What exhaust are you running?

Welcome to rennlist.

There is a 911 turbo section here on rennlist. It's in the 3rd section titled Turbo, then 911 Turbo.

Good luck with it. Looks like a blast.

It's no turbo but a very good motor. Good luck. Sounds like fun.

You almost have to go with another turbo cause it's got all the turbo stuff there already.

And it comes with a free pine cone.

That's actually a free 1000... A good friend of mine rides for BWM of North America and they give him 2 year. If you have some time, google him. Chris "Teach" McNeil. The 636 is my stunt bike and there is a Street Glide for my street machine. Also not pictured is my E36 Dinan supercharged M3...

Cool. I met Teach at the BMWMOA rally in TN in '09.

I thought that 636 had an awful small rear sprocket. Now I know why...
