Now your Targa will really be a "new" car after it is finished...

Congrats and thank you for saving her

I am so subscribed to this one!

Are you planning to do all/most of the work yourself?

Happy to see you are already working on the car... Cannot wait the finished product

OK Ed, you asked for pics. Not to hijack, but here are our two new "projects": old (8 years??) skinny & loveable Kai, and sweet, young (1 1/2) freshly spayed Anika-the reasons Ruby didn't make it up to check out the cousin this morning. These are the two most recent Super-Mega-Bonus-Powerball Lotto winners:

Love that last pic of Kai, and check out the ears on Anika! Lovable dogs - they always reflect their treatment by their owners.

Kai is one serious fella! Great day for you!

I do have to say you need to take more photos of the grass in your backyard.... Because it's going to be gone soon!

So we worked on the Targa today. Clayton and I went to Home Depot for grindy things and bits. I needed a couple short bolts to bolt the benchvice down. I was looking for this sand blasting tool that I saw online, but they didn’t have it in the store.

We went back and started going at it again. I worked a spot on the drivers side door that I suspected there was a good chance of rust under the primer. As I knew it, there was some significant rust. I’m going to have to cut out a portion of the door frame corner to eliminate the problem. The lower rocker panel on the passenger side is going to be needing some new metal as well. Both are going to be pretty easy to fix.

My biggest concern was the front suspension pan and how far back the rust went. I know that the replacement pans only go so far so I was concerned since the whole frunk looked like doodie. Luckily the metal is under all that crap and looks competent. My next fear is the front clip and what I might need to either save that one or remove and replace the front clip too… One step at a time I guess.

On another note my welder is expected to show up on Friday, just in time for the weekend!

Photos to follow….

Here's the interior on the frunk. I only worked the left side since it was the only one in question.

And one question. Apparently the front end is supposedly an 80 SC front end. My question is what brake calipers are these? 80's? or 70's?

Kai thought he had the place to himself after being king the last two nights. The day of reckoning was today. They actually met a the shelter and get along fine. But keeping Anika settled down after her surgery last night is tough.

As to the grass....that is the finest artificial turf on the market. Dear old Charlie did a number on the lawn when we moved in, and it was replaced in short order.

Glad to hear your jumping in on the project. A little at a time consistently will provide results.
