I've got a rear wheel bearing puller, a different type of tierod puller thing, and other stuff. When you need them it would be cool to contribute something to this righteous project.

Too bad you weren't closer. I just threw a bunch of early car stuff in the dumpster last week--things like that pedal box you said you bought, suspension pieces, etc. Took 50+ of those plastic storage crates and got it down to 32 I took to the Petaluma "graveyard" of parts. Now I only have about 70 up there.........

wow, this will be a very labor intensive project. but not impossible. my BMW racecar is a shell-up build.
I'd highly recommend getting the shell acid dipped. It will take all that rust off, paint off, and whatever gunk you cannot get to in the corners with a grinder. It's expensive, and not cost-effective, but it's very time-efficient as it will save alot of time grinding out rust, and will make repairs much easier.
Also, for sheetmetal welding....assuming you have a MIG welder, use 0.024 wire as opposed to 0.030. For 16 gauge or thicker you can use 0.030

Best of luck with your restoration. I have one that needs a lot of TLC. Sat for 15 years, got it started with very little effort. That says a lot for good old German engineering. 1961 MB 220 straight six.
