Default Broken Wheel Lock

As the title implies I broke a wheel lock today while on too much pain medication. Seems when the torque wrench clicks at 75 foot pounds that's a good time to get off the wrench.

First thing I did was search here for a solution. Nothing. Pelican had the answers. Thank you fellow rennlister imcarthur for the quick and easy solution.

All I needed was a 3/4" bi-metal hole saw with the center drill removed. This worked better than expected and was super clean looking all the way in.

Once the majority of the material was gone a small washer looking ring was left. I used a tool like an ice pick to spin it off. I did have to pull the other lugs off and shimmy the wheel a bit to finally get that ring off.

I was left with a skin of alloy on the treads that unscrewed with an easy turn of the vise-grips once I had the wheel off.

Looking at the treads and having spun a lug nut onto the lug you'd never know this happened.

The really cool part is that the saw didn't even leave a scratch.

I didn't think to pull out the droid and take a picture until I was half way done drilling.

Let's just keep this as our little secret.

EDIT: The last picture should be the first picture.

Still no comment on my www.rennlist.com shorts?

...anyway. Got my "city lights" wired up last night and the 80/100watt H4 bulbs in. Lights up the entire city.

HA! I just read your comment. I didn't know those were shorts. I thought maybe it was some kind of drop cloth. LOL!

Here are the After pictures of the city lights.

The protective bug film is a total fail. I'm sure it's gonna work great, but it isn't staying flat.

....and if you are curious as to how the 80 watt light looks just imagine yourself looking at the sun too long.
