for 90% easy to some agressive street driving, would I be better off with 225/50s or 245 /45s on the rear

? pros and cons for each size

I will be staying with the 8" rears

You don't want to go any wider than 225s on 8s, the 245s are too wide and any benefit will be lost since the sidewall will be angled..

Plus, good 245s are quite difficult to source these days.
