Optima battery

Reiver, the Optima folks told me that the Optima (Red top) is an AGM battery and the normal charger should not be used. I obtained an AGM charger to ensure something didn't go awry.

Prob a good decision but I've used it a few times on the 2 amp setting with no issue. So have the guys at the local flaps when they need to charge one.
I've looked around the net and what I've found is AGM (optima) batts are an electrolyte absorbed into a matting and are actually similar to our old sloshy batts and can be charged with a conventional charger on low setting.
Gel batts, otoh, do require a unique charger.
I suspect Optima just wants to sell you their own charger.
Do some searching.
