Marc meant pics of your wife.

Nice looking car and great story. My in-laws live in Spartanburg and I may drive my '88 down there this summer. Plenty of awesome roads nearby as you certainly already know.

Welcome and congrats! Still get the PPI which, in your case, means Post Purchase Inspection. At least you'll have an idea what needs to be done.

We are in Spartanburg County, SC. Car's running great! loving driving it, and with the weather we just had last week, the targa top is awesome! By the way, what does PPI stand for?
The car has 138,000 mi; any ideas on upcoming maintenance issues?
First you need to find out where it is on a maintenance cycle from the records.

Is your car white with the white alloy's?

If so I think I saw you this morning in Augusta.

That stretch of twisties up the Saluda Grade would be awesome in a 911.

Nope, mine is slate grey with black Fuchs, and I'm working so darn much that it hasn't been driven but once.

Get hold of Dan Petchel at Cars inc. in NJ. Dan is the targa top guru- he'll rebuild it so she's as tight as a coupe.

Gotta love red over black!

Glad it turned into a great outcome. Did you have a Pre Purchase Inspection done on the car?

I also live in the upstate (Laurens County, next to Spartanburg County) and wouldn't mind getting together sometime in warmer weather. I also just purchased a red w/black 911. Siberian, I will be going through Saluda next Tuesday on my way to Lexington. I'd love to stop by and see you for a few minutes. PM me about where you work and maybe we can meet. Hopefully a picture of my car makes it on this post.

Well, I (we) just joined, justified by a recent 1987 911 Carrera purchase. It's actually for my wife, hence the "we", as a bucket list, or wish list item. She's been wanting one since high school, so we decided to take the plunge. Been looking at ebay and craiglsit around the country for 6mo. or so. We got close on several of them, but passed for various reasons. Finally, one showed up in Philadelphia (we live in South Carolina, 10-1/2hrs away). We negociated, had more pics sent, asked a million questions, and decided to have a close look and be prepared to buy. We left Friday morning, and drove all day, arriving at ~4pm. As soon as we get there, there's a meltdown at work, and I have to be on the phone for 1hr. The car looks good, and drives good, but an oil leak, and disfunctional heater (it's 27 deg. out) have me nervous. Wife wants it though, so we buy it. Snow was in the forcast, so we head home...in a 1/2hr. old car, 600 miles!! (that's one way to spell "idiot"). We get to DC, and the snow starts at 9pm. We pull over at 10PM when we can't see the road. By morning its a driving rain, which lasts the full 7hrs getting home. OH - the heat decided to work early-ish in the morning, about the time the targa starts to leak.
Well, we got home safely, and the car is really awsome; tight, functional, and only cosmetics so far (a button here, and knob there...) Pelican is also top notch! The car proved its metal; I'm a believer!
Are you sure the heat isn't working? The heat controls in these cars can be confusing to newcomers, to say the least. The levers on the console between the seats both need to be up and the fan switch on that same console needs to be on position 1 or higher. The levers on the dash control air direction to the windshield or footwell or open the fresh air vents. Hope you have a manual with the car. You will need it to understand this crazy system.

The 911 has to be the only car ever made where the heat can be on, the fresh air vents open and the AC on, all at the same time!

I met a real nice guy at the Mille 2011 in Atlanta last year, he was from Augusta and had a white coupe with white wheels and "lipstick" red interior. Awesome looking car he had, and a real nice guy too. Small world really.
Time, car looks nice and welcome to the R-list.
Cafe, if you ever come down this way, let me know. It would be nice to meet some day.
