Default Good Mechanic West Suburbs Chicago??

No pressing repairs but I have a new to me '97 993 and I want to find a good mechanic in the west suburbs of Chicago. I live in Saint Charles. Kautz Equipe is closed, that was the only one I knew of. Both Naperville Porsche and Motorwerks are 45 minutes away from me.

I use Fischer Motorsports in Barrington. I've taken 3 911s there and have always been treated well.

Thanks, I'm not familiar with them. I'll take a look. I was hoping something closer but no luck yet.

+1 for Fischer. Midwest Eurosport in Bensenville is also good. Typically independent shops have more experience with older air cooled cars than dealers.

Call Euroquipe in St. Charles.

Tim Kautz and Brad Schrock opened the new shop 7 or 8 years ago.

Mark Palmer does much of the air cooled Porsche work there.

They're a very good group.

tchanson,

Thanks for the link! about 5 minutes from my house. I remember Tim from the Kautz Equipe days in the late 90s, he actually did a couple PPIs for me on 87-88 targas.

Another is Jake Guy in Gilberts. He spent many years as a dealer wrench and now is on his own. 847 613 - 5264. Gilberts is 15 minutes north of you if you live west of the river.

Default Excellent Porsche people

You should try Midwest Eurosport, 104 West Irving Park Rd, Bensenville, IL. 60106. 630 595 5577. I think Brian Weathered is the owner. We drove to the Porsche Parade in St Charles two years ago, and had some pretty serious problems upon arrival. One of my fellow workers at the Parade autocross recommended them and I was very pleased with their expertise in diagnosing the problem, as well as their caring attitude. One of the senior mechanics, Matthew Hartsfeld, gave up part of his weekend to get our 911 back on the road.
I used to work as a mechanic, and I was impressed with these guys. Although the business is called "Eurosport ", 95% of their customers have Porsches.
Give them a try.
