I don't like wasting my time on an owner who doesn't really want to sell. A few months ago I saw a 79SC go on sale & I stopped & talked to the guy, he was a bit high on his price but didn't say firm. I wasted a Sunday afternoon checking out the car. On Monday I offered him $500 less than he told me & he said no. The car is still in front of his house for sale. The guy is a "Porshe Mechanic" that a local PCA member recommended but he wouldn't do a PPI on the car I bought the next day. Some professional. The guy works out of his garage & I've seen no Pcars there for work, only POS. Sorry for the rant, but I just smile when he occasionally sees me scream by in 2nd gear. The car I bought is alot nicer than the one he is selling for the same money I offered him.

Just saw an ad for a local garage kept and pampered 91 carrera two targa blk / blk with 91k miles for 18.9k. There you have it. Those folks are now really messing up the price on the older cars. Good luck!

If i'm gonna buy a car that just needs a fuse and bolts, then i expect YOU to do this. I don't want to buy a car assuming it's a fuse, then finding out it's some electrical gremlin that you've been unable to diagnose.

Whenever somebody tells me some aspect is a quick and easy fix, I assume they're lying. If it was so easy to fix, why didn't they fix it?
As everyone has already said, upper teens is 964 territory. The typical buyer is not a "frog-eyed" purist. They're listening to the most-often heard piece of Porsche-buying advice: buy the newest and nicest one you can. 964's are SO much better than 3.2's in so many areas.

I am absolutely delighted by the prizes you tell for late C1 !
Here in Germany, the 3.2 carrera market, especially for G-50, is an absolute seller´s market! A good one will sell within one week. For good examples, prizes are higher than for similar 964.
In fact, the 964 is not very sought after. In every 911 buyers guide you will find the late 3.2 to be best advice and hints to be aware of the 964 specific problems. And thats what most people do when they want to buy a classic 911.
So what does it cost to ship a 3.2 to Europe ?? And what`s up with your "depressed market" ?

You will have to add German VAT and other European taxes totaling around 20% to the price, though

agent325, it was nice meeting you on the Malibu run. Your car looks nice and it was fun watching you chase those two 993tt's for a while. Just for comparison sake, I sold my 1990 964 cab (thus the adscab911 name) in March for $19K. New 993 top, aero mirrors, 17" chrome cup 2 wheels, euro turn signals, new 993 full power seats, completely recovered interior, restitched steering wheel, new CD head unit and amp, 121K miles with 120K service just completed. In fact, I had just spent $6K on the service, valve job, replaced control arms, took care of all the oil leaks, redid the oil lines, etc. The car was mechanically perfect and cosmetically very good.
Even with all that work, it was a no brainer to get rid of once I got the 993 C4S.
Good luck !
Addison

"So what does it cost to ship a 3.2 to Europe ??"
Too much to be worth it. It makes sense on the earlier cars because they don't rust here in California, but the 3.2, I guarantee you, what you make up in price you spend on fees and inspections and HASSLE.
I have a coworker moving to germany trying to take his VW golf that he bought in California. He has yet not found out what the hurdles are and it sounds horribly complicated.
Cheers, George

Since two years, there is an incredible inflation especially in 3.2 prizes here.
I have seen low mileage coupé and targa for nearly 30 tsd Euro (=$) and cabrios even higher. So in a few years it may be well worth.
Anyhow, you don´t have those lovely non converter 231 hp C1...
