Default I'm Stoked - New Wheels

At least new to me. I bought the car just less than 2 weeks ago. Never really liked the BBS wheels on it (although they would have looked pretty good on a black one). Anyway, my wrench had a set of 18" Cup wheels that he had taken in trade for some work he did. The deal is made, and the result is below. Really gives it a more modern experience IMO. Also, I was worried that the lower profile Toyos would ride a little harsher than the 16" Yokohamas which were on the BBS's - But the ride with the Toyos is better! Go figure.

Anyway, now I can quite doing stuff to my new ride, and just enjoy driving her.

Tom,

Very nice. Good choice on the wheels, I too have never been crazy about the BBSs. There is nothing like an "Arrest Me" red 911.

Those are beautiful. I just bought an '87 targa myself. The car is white with 16" fuchs. I have been toying with the wheel change as a good friend has cup wheels on his '87 930. Are there any clearance issues with the 18s? Those must be some skinny profiles of the tires.

Bob: I think that I have seen pics of your car with the Fuchs. I like them, and Fuchs would actually have been my first choice, but my wrench had the Cups and gave me a good price. It was the best price available for me to get rid of thos BBS's! New tires have a 40 size profile, so no issues with clearance. My wrench thought that they would bolt right on my car, but it ended up that wheel spacers were needed. He wanted to make the sale (money talks, nobody walks, buy a car, see my scar) so he threw them in for FREE! Other than that, no interference issues. I had thought that the ride might get harder with the lower profile tires, but it actually improved! I already feel that they will give improved steering control: I felt that the car needed an alignment when I bought it (pulling a little to the right), and that is more pronounced with the new wheels/tires. Hope to get that done this weekend.

Other than that I'm good to go and I really love losing that "old skool" BBS look.

Hey Jim, let's bring that baby down out of the sky!

Sharp looking car...I love the Turbo bodywork w/o the fender guards. Great color.

RF951 - just refinish your fuchs - they can look good too (and they are light and strong!) For Doug and Julie - Here's a Sky Shot!

Great shot!

I'm teasing Jim because it looks like you could stuff a melon under his front fender lip. Hey, I was teased for it too on my '72...

You know I thought about refinishing the fuchs wheels too. Maybe even going to the polished look. But nothing looks like cup wheels at the right ride height.
