My Targa roof is almost never on, and I live in the PNW.

This is an interesting discussion, it been going on for a long time. It is possible that the true appreciation for targa's will come from outside of the traditional Porsche crowd. Look at the pricing of early 911 turbo's over the last 5 years. These cars were universally derided the bulk by the Porsche 911 crowd for many years but somewhere along the way they became collectable and prices went crazy. It is possible targa's could suffer a similar fate, look at the soft window prices. Not a prediction but a contrary point of view.
