Frank I'll be at RR VI. A 491 get together would be great. I'm in. BTW Rick does great work.

We can't forget that 1984 also carried the m491 option. I purchased mine back in 2012 and sold everything I had in ordee to purchase it (just out of college) at an incredible price. I couldn't have done that today with the current market prices.

These values have doubled it seems in the last 5 years -- perhaps we're recognizing the true scarcity of this option. I purchased mine with 63,000 miles and after 6 years of ownership I've only put 1200 miles or less. I wish I weren't so nervous and just drove the hell out of it. If I knew they were worth $10k I might have many more great memories driving it...either way, I love it.

Has anyone set eyes on the m491 for sale at N. Houston? Its listed in the classifieds. I saw Frank's comments about in the post above and would be curious about current opinions.

Thanks!
I looked more closely at the pics. The exterior has certainly received a ton of TLC since I inspected the vehicle. Also looks as if the wheels have been refinished (by whom?) and they're mounted with new-ish tires.

I'd like to see invoices for what all work has been done in the past three years and more interior pictures. A lot more.

Car may be worth it, or at least in the ballpark. The One Percenter collectors won't consider it as it's had paintwork.

Frank, if you reply to my pm I can share some picts and documentation provided to me by the dealer. Definitely asking a premium! Trying to decide if I want to make an offer. Thanks!

Doh! Sorry Dave. I'll send you an email. I think I picked up your PM while I was out on a 1,000 mile day trip to inspect a 491 coupe on Saturday. ;-)

After reading through this thread I am pretty depressed. Found a legit M491 beater about 5 years ago that needed a ton of work but picked it up for a song. Needed some cash and sold it through the PCA website. Should have realized that the asking price was way low when I received 5 calls within 20 minutes of placing the ad (no exaggeration). It was a Targa. Only 25 imported to the US. Oh well

I’m new to the M491 Family after picking up this beauty late last year. 1984, M491 Coupe in a rare Metallic Graphite.

Im slowly bringing it back to how it left the showroom. I just finished 13k of mechanical work on it.
