That is almost impossible to say and will remain so. When I have all the data for 1984, I can still only say which were shipped with color to sample. To say which color that was is only possible by finding the car.
The Porsche database only shows a decoding from the 964 series on.

Hi,
I've been a member for a few years now and this is my first post. I am putting my 1984 Guards Red M491 back on the road after storing it for 13 years. It has 63500 miles on it. Bone stock except for the Borla exhaust and 18" Speedlines. I still have the stock parts just in case I want to put it back in it's original condition. I've recently put it on the Turbo-Look Register so if you want to see pics it's on there under AL. So, anyways, I've been looking to get it insured and I am sort of confused on who to go with and after reading all the posts regarding insurance I am more confused. Obviously, it's not going to be a daily driver; just to events and the occasional coffee and cars on Sundays. I've been looking at the insurers that are mentioned on this site and the prices are all over the place. If it helps I'm in San Jose, CA, 53 years old and have a very clean driving record. Sorry for the long post but any advice and/or help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have one more question for you, did the M491 come with 7’s on the Front and 8’s on the Rear? Or 7’s on the Front and 9’s on the rear?
I know the 930 Turbo was 7’s and 9’s but I wasn’t sure about the M491?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

I bid on that car, but the price quickly ran wild. I've since come to find out, from someone who was on-site that paint metered it, that half of the vehicle had been painted. Bullet dodged (at the figure I bid at). Doh!

I've used Hagerty Insurance. They are pricey, but they are all-in and supporting the hobby in a BIG way. I have three cars on a classic / specialty car policy so I had to find something a bit more cost effective. I am with MCM / The National Corvette Museum now and they've been great so far. Consider them as an option.

I've had those Speedlines on the car since 1994. Their 18x9 and 18x10s. I have the original Fuchs in storage. I want to go wider on both the front and rear tires without rubbing. What is the widest I can go? Right now I'm running 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 Continentals.
