Default Please advise on exhaust tips

Hi guys,
After flooring it last night pretty hard I cruised back home for a few miles to help cool down the turbo. Anyway today I had a look at my exhaust tips and although it is black but some parts of it is like pinkish/brown in colour. Why does this happen? I thought it's suppose to be black/dark grey throughout. Pls advise. The picture with less pink/brown tips is the right side tip.

Mine looked the same way, I think its just the additives they put in pump gas these days...turn up your boost and start running race gas, that'll turn em white...looks cool as hell hey, since we're on the subject are the polished outside part of your tips discolored from heat just a little bit? mine are a nice light gold and turn blueish purple right at the very tips.

Pete,
Ok I just got back home earlier from driving around town and a little on the highway. The tips are now black in colour. All that carbon built up I guess. So this pinkish/brown with black colour only happens when I floor it and am on full boost which is what happened last night. So why isit pinkish/brown and black after I floor it? whats that pink/brown colour?

I have absolutely no idea. I never really cruised around long enough to let em get black...on second thought, golden/reddish brown could be kinda like an indicator of how your car is running, kinda like the spark plugs...i dunno, maybe steve or stephen could chime in on this one.

Sameer - Are you running 1 bar boost? Also what octane do you get in Singapore.

For insurance I have this and I am going to see how my car runs at WOT on a hard third gear charge once I have completed all my upgrades (hopefully in a couple of weeks). I cannot recommend a A\F wideband enough, especially how detonation sensitive our cars are - CHEAP INSURANCE and easy to use!

That way you can determine exactly what your tailpipes tell you - no guessing.

slownrusty, do they sell an in-dash wideband. Or do you always have to use this huge bulky unit?

I know if it's anything I might be running a little on the rich side. I'm using Super 98 octance which is more than adequate. Just want to know what that pink/brown colour is after flooring it only.

I think it's the fuel we use here in Singapore that gives it this colour. My friend also has the same colour on his tail pipes..Must be the super 98.

Do you useleaded or unleaded? Leaded gas will do that.

Or as Pete7930 says, it can be something in the gas. Aditives will make it red in color.

We use unleaded here. The gas stations offer 98 and Super 98 which is what I use plus I have these additives in my fuel tank which last 500,000kms.
