Here is the Yellowbird at the Ruf shop in Pfaffenhausen.





And here I am posing next to the yellow beast. This was from the PCA-GR "Ruf Tag" in 2003.

Alois gave us a tour of the shop, one of the guys that work for him was giving people rides in the R Turbo too. Fun day.

Do all the RUF's have the rain gutters removed? Also, why the holes in the rear bumper?

Much like the current turbo line, I believe they're air intakes for the turbos. (Or some type of cooling intake).

Well, I am doing a full 930 build right now and considered flushing the rain gutters. I hear it's worth a lot in cleaning up the aero of the car.

Gutters removed for top speed runs. Bello does the same thing to his Texas mile cars. I would think the rear bumber is more related to exhaust back there as opposed to an intake. Not much clean cool air that low on the back of a car at speed for an intake. But I could be very wrong - Ruf knows his stuff!

That's the thought that I had too, the Porsche reflector on my 930 is partially melted... I know the car personally and it never had a fire there, it was heat from a track day that melted it.

More on the cut-outs - the following is from Wikipedia:

"Prototype models had NACA-style intercooler intake ducts over the rear fenders (later dropped, as it was discovered that air was pulled out, rather than in, at speed due to a low-pressure area), while later models had additional slots in the rear bumper corners for the air to exit."

Ok, that make sense. They are using the negative pressure created by the hole the car is cutting in the slipstream to help pull air through the intercooler at speeds.

How many other engines use twin injectors per cylinder? Just curious...
