Default Low miles 930- opinion?

I have looking for a low miles 930 in black, and came across this one. I have seen the car in person, and its condition is immaculate. However, wheels are 15 inch fuchs, and they look out of proportion. Price is questionable.

http://www.eurocaroc.com/web/1208/ve...sche-911-TURBO

I also located a 1989 Factory Slant nose on slaoncars.com

http://sloancars.com/1848/1989%C2%A0...k-15579-miles/

This is a 17k miles car, but it is a 1989. Price is 100k

Any feedback, and opinions on these two cars? I don't know if it is worth it to pay that premium for a low mileage car vs. finding a higher milage car with a clean history. I just find it hard to believe a 1986 car with 7000 miles on it.
I plan to keep it for a long time, but I have no experience with older turbo cars.

Thanks guys!

You will get all kinds of advice on low mileage cars, I for one would rather have a car with 10K than a car with 110k. All things being equal, service, mods ect, the lower mileage car, as a keeper will need less than the higher mileage car.
If you want a daily driver, track car, or hot rod then go for the high mileage car or modified. If as you say, you want an origional car, you wii pay a preimum, but you won't lose any money.

Godd luck with your search, as they say, it's half the fun, and don't forget the PPI

Also, my 86 930 came with 225/245 16s not 15 inch Fuches.

Both cars sound nice..but the prices are another story. If your looking for a museum piece..than maybe it is worth it to you but these cars were meant to be driven. I for one would prefer a low to mid milage car but I'm not going to pay some ridiculous high price for a car I would be too afraid to drive. Yes I expect to pay a premium when I get back into the market but that premium should be around 10-15% not 50-75% of market value. One thing that drives the price is rarity. Both of the cars the OP listed are not rare Porsches. Yes not that common to come across but certainly not rare.
Happy hunting...

I would agree with speednme! The problem with paying huge money for ultra low mile car is that the depreciation curve is so steep as soon as you start putting miles on it. Unless you never plan on driving the car, I would suggest you spend $30-40K (which will still buy you a super nice 930) and drive it like its meant to be driven!

The 86 has 930 RSR wheels in 15". The owner has original 16" Fuchs. The price of over 80K for an 86 is WAY too much. Keep in mind that the 86 has the 915 tranny. 1987 -1988 has the G50 and the 1989 had the G50/50

As far as Sloans 89 slantnose, over 100K is also way out of line. I can appreciate the low miles for both, but like the other reponses in this thread unless you going to buy, store and not drive. I think that spending 30 -40k for a higher mileage car that you can enjoy and drive it is a better investment. Just my$0.02

There is a big diffrence between putting 3-4K miles a year on a weekend car and NEVER driving it. If you buy an origional car with 7k on it and drive it 3-4K a year, after 10 years you still have an origional 35 yr. old car with under 60k on it. Not unlike an unmolested 73 S in todays market. FWIW

My 2 cents to OP....

After diligently watching this market for over a year I would respectfully say both those cars are grossly (comparatively) overpriced.

I could only hope that if one were to buy at that price, I could get their phone number as I have 200 acres of ocean front property available in Iowa.....price will include a corn field.

I think that it is quite obvious that if you can´t afford to buy a low milage car then you buy a car with more miles on it. But of course everybody understands that a car with higher milage has more problems and you never now what kind of mechanical damage you will get with a high milage car. Its simple risk calculation, a car with low miles = not much repairs, a car with high milage has a higher risk to brake down and getting a huge bill to repair it. I always seek for low milage cars, they are of course much easier to sell in the future and end up beeing more worth than high risk cars.

I hope that the high risk owners don´t get pissed of.

I think this whole line of reasoning is flawed. First, a 24 year old car with 10,000 miles on it means it was driven a little more than 400 miles a year or about 35 miles a month(one mile a day)! That isn't enough time to warm up an engine. On the other hand it might have been stored for years without any use. That too is bad for any machine unless it was prepared for storage proplerly. It can have significant problems that a higher mileage car would never have. And third, think of an item that you dearly love but everytime you use it you are taking away some of its value. That is what you get with a very low mileage car. As far as using it and in ten years you now have a thiry four year old car with only 60,000 miles on it, think about it. You don't want one now with that many miles on it so why in the future would someone like you want one with 60,000 miles on it then? There will still be very low mileage cars available at a higher price but people who buy very low mileage cars don't usually drive them. They polish them and show them mostly. There is nothing wrong with that but why would anyone who is interested in a very low mileage car want mods to it? Every mod would devalue the low mileage premium. This arguement has been here for a long time and always ends up with two very different opinions about who is right. Only you can dream up the car that you want and then cough up the bread to buy it. Good luck.

Any car is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. There is always a dummy (like myself) who's willing to pay big $ for low miles, but what you said is true, you find yourself not wanting to put miles on it because you fear you won't get your money back out of it. In retropect a nice clean Carrera driver is probably more enjoyable to drive frequently than my 86 blk/blk 930 with 13,675 miles with new clutch, new fuel pumps and new CIS module.( so far)
