I'm going to look at a 1988 or 1989 Porsche 911 turbo (930) that was sold new in US.
What is the difference between a US and a Euro Porsche 930?

Does the US 911 turbo 88-89 have 282hp vs the 300hp euro? Whats the difference?

Basically, with some minor trim differences on the bumper guards, and the little side marker lights, the major differences are in the fuel injection system, and the exhaust system. There's a larger fuel manifold, no catalytic converter and no air pump system. Unless they were added by the importer to pass US DOT certification and never removed by an owner. In general the euro-spec or Rest of World (ROW) was a little more powerful, little more aggressive ride height than the North American version, but overall tthe car's are probably 85-90% common.

The Euro 930 has a 330 bhp engine with a larger intercooler, lower ride height, an additional oil cooler mounted under the front valance, a totally different front valance with integrated fog lights and a "performance" exhaust. The power option was about $17,000 extra....which was basically the more powerful engine and upgraded exhaust.

I'm fairly sure the european 930 doesn't have 330bhp - the later 964 3.3 turbo like mine is based on the same engine with minor tweaks (intercooler, eletronics, turbo) and makes 320bhp. All figures I've seen state 300bhp for the (row/euro) 930.

Yeah, I agree. I seem to remember the U.S. version was 285 HP and the Euro was right at 300. 330 sounds like too much.

Look up "Porsche 930" on Wikipedia and you will find that the Sonderwunsch Euro model came with a 330 bhp engine In the "Model History" section. Look under the "Performance" chart and you will find the same.
From what I have read most of the special wishes cars had this engine and a four pipe exhaust system called a "power or performance" package that added $ 17,000.00 to the sticker. The Slantnose option added $ 30,000.00 to the sticker. I have also confirmed these numbers with Porsche in Stuttgart via email when I inquired about the options on my 1987 Sonderwunsch 930......

Stock Euro 930 was 300hp for all 3.3s, US was 282 from 1986 - 1989. The Euro only SE (which were typically the slant nose cars) came with 330hp, but I think this power option was also available with the stock headlight body. Slantnose cars for North America all came with the stock engines for their time, though the Canadian cars always used the ROW 300 hp engine. Thus, Canadian cars (including slantnoses) used ROW engines, but the body was the same as the US cars (same rear bumperettes and no side indicator repeaters).

Yo need to get the Porsche Red book which is the official information on Porsches and their"official" specifications. Specail Wish cars are a totally different animal.

i think the HP i need is around 475 at the rear wheels. So I can smack around these nouveau idiots around here in their AMG Mercedes... Pat Williams Racing seems like a good place to go.

What constitutes a "special wish" car? Is there a designation in the VIN?
If one was special ordered with a non-standard color, did it go through the "SW" department?

Finally, Does the hp figures that have been quoted in this thread apply to the pre-86 cars? (such as an '85 Euro)
