New York City barn find
With the help of my brother, TT Surgeon, I finally found a 930. The car is a 1983 grey market 930, 38K miles, with all federalization papers. The car is a 2 owner, imported from Germany in 1984. The second owner took possession about 13 years ago, it has sat in a NYC parking garage ever since then, only driven about a thousand or so miles in that time. The car was basically neglected.
From the ppi and our own inspection it has a few minor oil leaks, needs a new rear speaker shelf, new tires and some minor paint work. The good news is everything works and the car runs strong. Leakdown numbers were 5% or less on all cylinders.
The car looks to have an aftermarket exhaust in place (?Borla?). There is also a question as to wether the car was a "special wishes" car, with a 330 HP upgrade. I need to do some more research on this. The VIN doesn't indicate it, but I have learned a lot of the special wishes cars were upgraded after completion so the VIN may not tell the story.
Right now the car is in NY waiting to be trucked down to Texas, where Viking Motorsports will take care of it and set things right.
Not bad for $20K...

He kept it in one of those private parking garages on the Upper East Side. The car was given/left to the guy and he was a total non car guy.
Here is an engine pic, I'll have more when I get the car to Texas. I kind of doubt the special wishes story because there is no documentation, nada zip.
Right now I'm wading thru a pile of service records and receipts....

Sunroof delete too!
Great find, I think the PO was just disinterested in the car and not really a Porsche guy.
Thanks to Bobby at MMS for all his help on this deal.
This just goes to show that there are deals to be had out there.

if you want, pm me the garage address and next time i'm in the neighborhood (which is fairly often) i'll snap a photo of the place if you want it as part of your car's history.
where i parked my cars (also in upper east), some people never drove what they had stored, leaving time & dust to gather. old rolls royce's, that sort of thing, tucked away in quiet corners. believe it or not, it's pretty common, especially if the cars are owned by old folks.
again, congrats on the find. if anything, it comes with a cool story.
