Default New 930 Owner

I finally got the car of my dreams. I sure hope it does not turn out to be a nightmare. I guess only time will tell. Let me start off with I’m very new to the Porsche family and have only been an outside worshiper.

I just purchased an 84 930 slant nose. I could go into all the mods, but I’ll leave that for another time. The motor and tranny was rebuilt in 07 by TPC in Laurel, MD. TOTAL modified, I don’t have the receipts with me right now. But what I remember is the T36RS turbo, RUF clutch kit total cost $35,000.

I have a few questions:

1. Where can I get quality interior replacements (carpet, seat covers, door panels)?
2. Where can I get a pair of boxed rocker panels (both of mine have surface rust)

I open to all questions about the car, I’ll answer them as best I can. I’ll have my hands on the receipts later today. Plus pictures of the car and engine rebuild.

Very nice car! Sunroof delete is pretty rare. You can get the parts you need at Pelican parts and Automotion among others.

Thanks Doug, I’ve been on both of those sites. I was a little worried about purchasing the boxed rocker panels over the internet because I can’t see quality.

Somebody is selling some OEM boxed rockers on eBay.

I saw that one. It’s the left side and that’s the better of my two. I guess I’ll be stuck buying aftermarket and hoping for the best.

Stick with OEM, even fix yours, aftermarket never look right.
Where did you find that beast anyway?
Very nice!

For the last ten years it’s been in the Annapolis, MD area. One owner who spent a ton of money on the car.
Unfortunately, he did not take care of the small things. For example the door stop is broken ($60 item) and the pop-up lock on the passage side is broke ($2 item). The power antenna doesn’t go all the way up or down. Just a bunch of little things.

But it’s all those little things plus some bodywork and a paint job that made it affordable. He spent most of his money on the engine, tranny, and brakes. TPC dyno’d it and it’s rated at 550hp. I’ve been driving around on 1/2 bar and can’t believe how strong the engine is.

Rick, What did you get? I need front seats recovered, possible carpet kit, and I might replace the door panels. The carpet and door panels aren’t bad, but I want it to look perfect inside.

I had already bookmarked their site. Did you like their quality?

For what it's worth, I purchased black leather seat covers from Gahh and the match was terrible! Never again. You'd think it would be easy to match the same leather? I guess not, all the black Porsche cows must be in Germany.

Thanks. What happened to you is why I’ll likely recover the rear seats at the same time. Or just go with an aftermarket seat like Recaro.

Here are a couple more photos. One from the engine rebuild and one exterior shot.

The problem was that all I needed to do was recover the seats so to avoid the expense of doing the complete interior I opted for redoing just the seats. I suspect if I had redone the complete interior from the same source, everything would have been the same dull off colour like the seats.

Original Porsche uses a somewhat shinny deep dark black leather whereas Gahh uses a matt black (bordering dark grey) leather, completely different. Don't get me wrong, it is black but when you put it next to the original black, it almost looks grey.

Bodymotion in Jersey sends out their upolstery work and whoever it is does phenomanal work.
Can't seem to get them to tell me who it is. The seats I've seen done look factory good. Nice straight seams, no wrinkles, and the right texture on the leather.
