Default Play in steering column

Guys,

I have noticed of late play in the steering column, there is maybe 5mm of movement when you grab the wheel and move it vertically up and down, a but less side to side. There is no play when you try to pull or push it away from you.

I am wondering if there are sheer prins and they have broken after nearly 30 years. Any clues?

There are 2 bolts on top of the steering column behind the tach that were loose on mine. Caused the issue you describe.

What do you have to do to get to them?

It's a very common 911 problem and it is cheap and simple to fix.
