Default 66' 912 Project

Hey guys starting my build thread here for my 1966 912 3 gauge

This 912 my father and i found and purchased for a father son project, Ive never driven a 912 but have always been into the SWB 911/912's. We found this one on the samba for cheap enough to actually try to transform it into a car.

Since we picked up the car we have been doing rust repair along fixing the janky repairs the previous owners had done. We had the car sandblasted (interior and under) Aswell as taking apart the motor and getting it ready for a rebuild.

Good luck to you! I'm soon to be in the market for a longhood 911 or 912, though may be a 5 gauge, depending on price. I do have a question, as you also look fairly tall. I'm 6'4'' and concerned about headroom. I plan to go find one to test drive and test fit, but how's the room for you?

Thank you, as of for height, im 6'1, ive not had any seats in my 912, but based off of another early 911 headroom for me is very tight, unless your trying to keep the stock look there are other seats and seat mounting kits that will lower you in the car and can get you extra head room. Also make sure if your going for extra head room to stay away from the sunroof cars as they will steal about a inch and a half of head room.

Default Height is right

Cheers. I’d likely be buying a future ‘rod, so I’m fine to lower seats. Definitely sounds like I need to find one to sit in....since I was full height, I’ve not owned anything that wasn’t a convertible sports car or SUV. Thank you for your answer

Hey aiden! It’s Cooper’s dad. Pat from skusa long time. I just got a 912 off samba it is also a 66. Only mine had no engine. So I’m putting a big bore 3.0 or I guess they call it a 3.2ss. I am building an outlaw. So twin plug itb efi etc looking for big hp. Coop is 13 and 5 11. I’m trying to get him involved I will probably give it to him when he gets into high school you should check out group4wheels. They are in the uk. They make aluminum steelies super kool and light and at a really good price even with $250 for shipping. So hey to your dad for me and keep up the good work it looks really well done
