Hey xsboost90. This is a little OT but here goes...
I've been following this thread with interest because right now I’m considering attempting a similar restoration of a 1974 914 1.8. My ultimate goal would be a 914-6 with GT flares. But before I dedicate myself, I'd like to hear from someone who's been down the road with these cars.
Your 914 looks amazing so far, good work! I was wondering how much time you spend a day/week/month on it? Secondly, for someone with limited talent how hard are these cars to work on? I have done body and mechanical work, but this would be by far the most i've taken on. It's not like i'm buying a five figure car and tearing it apart, so if I get stuck, no big deal... but I don't want to buy one, get it home just to find out it's more than I can handle.
Thanks for your opinions.

to sum these up, they are real easy, if there is no rust. Everything on the car is like working on a beetle, somewhat easy and straight forward, but when rust comes into the picture suddenly your welding and cutting and who knows what. If you were interested in a good project, this would be the car, just be real picky about which car you buy, maybe buy a tub that is PRIMO and then do the rest yourself. I frequent the www.914club.com , those guys are very helpful to anyone that has one of these cars. I wasnt sure how much i liked the car at first, the look, the drive, etc..but now im hooked!

- i finally got to spending somemore over the weekend and purchased my carpet kit, a new heater ****, german liscense plate-sweeet!, and some door rubbers. My new welder will be here wednesday so i can get back to some welding up on the lower fenders that i sandblasted this weekend.

well, i found some extra rust issues in the front of the door jams, but after some welding and POR15 treatments, some sealer and some undercoat, its all straightened out. Now i have the painted suspension and 911 front spindles/calipers etc installed, after some spacing for the rotors to clear correctly. Now shes back on all four and awaiting some bodywork. I also got my euro plate.

by.. im thinking about selling my 14x5.5 inch fuchs (real not fake), alloy lug nuts, center caps, etc. youve seen them before, polished, mirror finish, nice shape. would you be interested in them? i need to get money for new heads which is why i might sell them, and my original seats and some other spare parts (i need about an extra 1000 bucks for heads and rebuilt solex carbs -OUCH!!).
anyways.. if youre interested let me know. im thinking 450 (not set in stone.. its flexable) with alloy lugs and center caps.
