Default Looking for rubber roof holders (for the trunk)

I googled this topic and found a site called 914rubber.com
They have them but the link says back ordered until 3/29/11.
Well, today is June 2, 2011.

So a question (or several)

Has anyone dealt with these guys? Any reviews or comments?
They have no address, phone number, or email address listed. They just have a contact form that you need to fill out.

Their price is way below Pelican, so these are not Porsche parts.
My current clips are original and lasted 36 years, so no complaints there.

Thanks.

I haven't dealt with them, but I've heard lots of good things. I would say go for it!

I have not only dealt with him, I have met he and his wife personally and call him friend. Pretty much everything he makes is a good enough reproduction that you would not know it from OEM. In many cases, he improves on OEM. For instance, he puts stainless steel in to resist corrosion where the factory just used metal. Mark is an airline pilot in his real life so be patient if he doesn't get back to you right away. I suspect he flies about 10 days a month and sometimes that leaves him out of town in a hotel for a few interim days.

I still have them available genuine from Porsche. A pair for 39 bucks.

I figure if the Genuine ones lasted 40 years from the factory, they should last another 40 years when you replace them.

Bought a complete set (2x plastic; 2x rubber) from Perf Prod about six months ago. They actually had them in stock. Can't remember the price. Be careful dealing with them; don't order on-line, they won't notify you if something goes to B/O.

I placed a $300 order with them, and without telling me they back ordered everything except a throttle cable. But they charged me the shipping amount quoted for the entire order to send me the cable. I canceled the B/O part of the order, got the cable, and an enormous shipping charge, after being assured that the shipping charge would be reduced. I'm still waiting for that credit on my CC.

^^That sucks. It sounds like they have been going downhill some. Such a bummer - I can remember waiting for a new catalog from them and Automotion!

I remember buying from Performance Products 30-40 years ago, you know, before you clowns were BORN!!!!!!

Used to be a good source, also used Automotion, haven't heard much about them for a long time either, but I'm looking at a lot of sources to get stuff for the '73 restoration...

Automotion was bought by Performance Products, maybe 10 years ago? I do recall the notice in the Automotion catalog

Waiting for the catalog screams of someone being around pre internet boom. Same too with actually GOING to swap meets, knowing who/what Stoddard meant to Porsche fans (well,356 fans ) etc.

I also loved the Tweaks catalog! I thought when Mike Yeager bought it things would get even better - little did I know...

God yes, the old Tweeks catalog!!

As for Stoddard, I actually knew Chuck back when he owned it!! Yes, that does date me.
A friend of mine took his '71 T out there in the mid 70's to repaint a rear quarter panel (after he backed into a post at Road America) because he didn't trust anyone in Iowa to paint it!! He was NOT a nice person to be around right after he had his little incident... We drove it out there and flew back to Iowa. Fun trip- it was like going to Mecca back then.
Boy, the cars Chuck used to bring to Parades back then...

After he sold the dealership, he got into hot-rodding those old futuristic looking GM motorhomes. The ones with the Toronado drivetrain and tandem rear wheels. Lots of stories...
