Have you ever driven on your rims?

Once you're down on your rims, you probably don't have much time left.
They _love_ closing freeways for that bullsh|t around here, don't they? Couldn't they wait until he exited the highway before pulling him over?
I wonder how impractical would it be to have solid rubber tires, like some kids' bicycles used to have. I imagine the ride quality would suffer a bit, and the car's acceleration would suffer because of the rotational interia of the wheels, but could it be done?

Solid rubber tires could be done, but no one would want them. Imagine hitting a pothole.
A buddy of mine once said he heard what he thought was a tank while he was on an indian reservation. He looked around, and it was a Chevy Caprice running on 4 steel rims.

Solid rubber tires are done all the time on small (like sail boat) boat trailers and the like, they have become more popular in the last year or two. They would weigh so much on a car they would not be practical. If you want a good picture take a ride in a car with an early RFT tire. Pretty darn close.

Stolen car. Had used stop stick on the drivers side tires. Tried to PIT him earlier on the freeway. Just spun him 360 and he continued on. Front disentigrated in another four minutes -- see the pretty sparks!
Puke stopped and gave up.
