A nice gift from a student
One of my "work kids" is about to graduate and is involved in the art program. He wanted to use a few of my 944 pictures for a digital art display for this year's art show at the school. When the show was done, he gave me his work.
I have received a lot of "tokens of thanks" over the years but this one is my favorite.
BB.

I like it even though the tires are kind of weird.
Whoever made the cassette looking label for it, give them a "F" for misspelling Porsche.

If you don't get the spelling on the cassette you probably don't like abstract art. They guy has the car and the gal "designs" the music for the road trip.

Proper music is important for road trips.

"80s pop" can cover a very wide variety.
I can tolerate most (almost all) of it.
I actually have a better appreciation for some of it now than I did back then.

Now, the independent scene had some moments of interest... that's always the case; but, I'd argue that the days where mainstream music becomes generally timeless died with the 80s

If you didn't quote me I would have edited it to say:
If I made the tape, songs with Eddie and David Lee. If she made the tape songs with Eddie and Michael. Nuff said.
Sorry for the hijack Brian.

The 80s top 40? Really? First I've heard anyone say so. Though there was some decent songwriting, I'd suggest that the popularity of the drum machine and electronic effects-happy producers led to a lot of cheese, ruining what could have been tolerable today.

But there was still ZZ Top, Van Halen, even late Stones & Who. Stuff I consider 'serious' rock (the list is a lot longer, but I'm trying to keep it short).
And of course, the whole Heavy Metal genre (which had both 'serious' and 'manufactured' stuff).
And I think that 'timeless' and when it stopped (if it has) is extremely subjective, and really dependent on how old you are.
Remember the movie "American Graffiti"? When Milner (Paul LeMat, in the yellow Deuce coupe) says "rock & roll has been going downhill ever since Buddy Holly died".
