944/951 Prices Getting Stupid?!

Also afaik the Turbo S wasn’t based on the Turbo Cup cars, those where an entirely different car with much lightening including glass fiber, manual windows & mirrors, Matter cage, soundproofing and undercoating delete. I don’t think they had 928 brakes or the AOR trans either and I’m sure they all ran on 16in Fuchs. There was one for sale on eBay recently, you’ll notice they call the race series it was made for as the “Turbo Cup” but the car was delivered to the dealer as a 944 CS. There was an option code M637 for the Club Sport “CS” 944’s and a different M638 for the Turbo Cup. The 944CS together with the later 968TS are so rare that they fetch stupid money when one hits the market. Just some background info

Yes, God only knows how many 944, 944S, S2 Coupes and Turbos have been destroyed while racing. It's funny, I was just reading a post from 2013 where somebody said it was easy to find a nice 944 Turbo for $5000. My silver 1987 944 Turbo, I bought in 2011 for $7000 and it looks like it came out of a time machine. Now $7000 will get you a nice NA or beat to hell S2 or maybe the junkiest Turbo. I would buy the junkiest Turbo or S2 and slowly rebuild it because First, I love the cars, Second, I would want to save a finite resource and Third, It would be worth over $20,000 when it was done. Probably more. Plus I would love to drive it and can do all my own work.

I dunno, once you get the car sorted. Odometer, heat, A/C, paint... even doing the lion's share of work myself you are looking at near-market value for the result. Hrmmm.....
