Default VA Junkyard Find

Just found this one at my old stomping grounds. I'm thinking about hitting this yard in the next week or two. I'd like to take the engine out if I've got time, the brake booster/cylinder, the seats, and a couple interior parts. Anyone need anything?

If I were you I'd get that radio and equalizer (if original)...and the ABS maybe.

If it's truly an 89, the cylinder head is regularly worth $750 or more.

Why is it worth that much? It's not an S2.

'Cuz the '89 944 had bigger intake valves and it fits on a turbo engine like it was made to..............

VIN comes up as an 89 so it will have the desirable 48mm valve head.

Could that be a crack-less dash? And a cigarette lighter with legible graphics?

S2 heads aren't even worth as much as 89NA heads

And you can't just machine a standard head for the larger valves? You can do that on Chevy/Ford/Chryslers all day long.

First, this isn't a Chevy/Ford/Chrysler.
Second, the intake valves are somewhere north of $200 EACH.

I happened to notice that thing has been there since July, I sure hope it hasn't been torn apart yet. This yard is kinda out in the middle of nowhere so we might be safe. I'll grab as much as I can and we can go from there. Given the shape of this 944, I think I might even take the day off of work and go out there, looks to be worth it.

Sure you can, you can do anything with enough money. I have a 2.5na head fitted with these aftermarket 49mm stainless valves on one of my 951’s. Cost for the work was north or $1.2k The 2.7 head is factory and bolt on for much less.

Random but specific requests: if you can find one of the straps for the fuse box cover (I have a '91 S2) I'd like that. I actually have the strap but am missing the metal bit on the end. Probably already spoken for/taken, but I'd also take a good OE front speaker cover if they're available.

to clarify some..the 2.7NA head bolts onto the 89+ 3.0L engine blocks and also bolts to the Turbo intake/exhaust manifolds...so it's one of the key pieces when making a 3.0L, 8-valve turbo engine.

the valve size is a secondary benefit to it "just fitting".
