Question Peculiar Problem with Fuse 28

1985/2 944, fuse 28 blows when the rear wiper switch is engaged. Sure enough, resistance between the switch side of the fuse and ground drops to about 1 Ohm when the switch is on, and is ~infinite with it off. Disconnected and removed the rear wiper motor - problem remains. Checked the switch itself: works fine, no shorts. Perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree, as Fuse 28 also controls reverse lights, defroster (disconnected) and flag mirrors - so could it be something wrong with one of those?

I keep looking at the circuit schematic and worrying about the heated flag mirrors - from my reading of the circuit, it appears that they are being heated at all times, but I must be wrong?

Thanks for any suggestions!

The problem turned out to be with the wiring to the rear window wiper switch socket: two of the wires (red/blue and red/black) had been swapped around, so that red/blue was going to pin 6 instead of 2. So when the switch was engaged it effectively shorted the supply to ground. Easily fixed, but who would have done such a thing?!
