Default 944 S2 and 968 Door Handles - Can I swap out the lock cylinders?

Down to the final details on my '91 944 S2 and trying to figure out my lock options.

The PO installed 968 door handles (photo #1). I want to go back to stock so I'm buying a new set of later 944 handles (photo 2). When the PO swapped out the handles previously, he did it right and I have a single key for my ignition/doors/trunk. Obviously, I want to maintain that.

From the PET, it looks like the lock cylinders are the same part #'s for the 944 and 968 door handles. That being the case, I'm assuming I can just swap the cylinders between my current 968 handles and my new 944 handles? Can anyone confirm?

And, assuming I'm right, and as my guy has fallen off the face of the earth, does anyone have a recommendation for a good Porsche locksmith who could do this for me?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, you can swap the lock cylinders between the two handles. I did this same thing in reverse, going from 944 handles to 968 handles. Not an issue to do yourself.

Can I ask what your plans are for those 968 handles? I love the color on those, BTW.

Thanks. Maritime blue. I also have the 968 aero mirrors in the same color that won't be needed as I'm taking the car back to stock. Pretty unique color and I'll probably offer everything for sale as a set at first in case there's another Maritime blue car out there in need.

To each his own but I would never go back to stock flag mirrors and door handles from my 968 type. IMO they were one of the best mods to my car.
BTW, I need to update my Avatar as I'm running BBS RS-GT wheels instead of the 18" Technology hollow spokes... which I should sell.

This car is one of the last five 944's built, all Maritime Blue cabriolets, and the twin to the final 944 ever built which is on display in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. It deserves to be original.

Gorgeous color for a 944 and good move on the mirrors and handles. Never liked the look of the 968 stuff on a 944 anyway as it takes away the 80’s of the car and makes it look like every car today. Plus those 968 mirrors don’t give you the vision that the flags do.

Love to see more photos of your car

Quick somewhat off-topic question - how did the 944 Turbo project end up? That was an epic build thread, but never got to see final pictures. Your work is incredible.

Geez, very nice of you.

Believe it or not, it's not *quite* done. Got sidetracked with a couple dozen 911's. But I'm back on it. News soon.

Were these the handles that got scammed? That's infuriating.
