So how did you diagnose it was the ICM?

As for the lifters, should go away after some decent running. Mine does that every year after winter storage.

That's great to hear, it's a little unnerving to hear that sort of clatter after a bunch of work!

I didn't really diagnose it was the ICM, I was pretty well convinced it had something to do with the ECU itself. I had just preventatively ordered a new ICM and reference sensor mostly out of frustration. I tossed the new ICM in yesterday not expecting anything and voila, she lives!
