I replaced both entire turn signal assemblies, traced out every hot and ground wire for shorts, replaced the entire turn signal lever assembly, installed a new alternator and new bulbs (haven't tested the car out yet). If this doesn't fix it, then I'll take a flame thrower to the car...

As an aside, if you need new gaskets for the side signals let me know, I have extras (just big o rings, really, but they work and look like OEM).

Looking great

Thanks, I may take you up on that offer. BTW: Let me know when you plan on coming up...

So here's an update on the Beastie:

After two trips to the RMV (Registry of Motor Vehicles), she is registered and insured!!!!!! Since the car had an out of state title, I'm told that it may take a few weeks before the new one arrives in the mail. Believe it or not, there isn't a SINGLE leak throughout the drivetrain (I'm still shaking my head). She starts right up, comes to operating temp quickly and the cooling fans kick in as designed - very lovely.

As for the turn signal issue, I figured out that I'm a dunce... I originally pulled a Sylvania 1154 bulb during my initial inspection and just assumed they were the correct lamp number. After blowing about 4 packages of bulbs, testing every inch of wire harness and replacing turn signal stalk assemblies, I discovered that these bulbs are rated for 7VDC. Oops! I ended up installing 7528 lamps which are working perfectly. Live and learn my friends.

Next projects will include complete suspension rebuild - along with a 2" lift, installing a winch behind the front bumper and I'm thinking about a roof-mount retractable awning. I think I'll just enjoy driving her for a while now...

Congrats on getting the paperwork & bulbs working. Nice progress!
The lift will be awesome.
If you are planning on putting bigger tires on, I recommend 2.5-3" coil over spring diameter as they allow for more tire clearance.

I miss the days of owning my 87 924S. I have given thought to buying one like this and starting restoring it from the ground up. My wife would probably shoot me, but I seriously miss the car. It was a labor of love. Thanks for posting the progress of your project.

Hey Noah, A great idea but the budget probably won't be there...

Oh, and BTW: Both turn signals decided to crap out this afternoon after about 150 miles of driving. I tested the bulbs and they're fine so another relay was ordered a few minutes ago.

Today's Update: A good one (mostly)...

1. The new turn signal relay seems to have cleared up any remaining issues with that circuit; I've exercised the turn signals extensively over the past two days with (knock on head) no issues. Will keep monitoring...
2. She passed Massachusetts inspection this morning!!!!! The car is finally road legal.

3. The not so good news: I replaced the receiver/dryer this morning, along with a new cutoff switch also this morning. She held vacuum well but during the filling cycle, one of the condenser pipes blew a hole. My mechanic buddy is confident that he can braze the hole once I remove the unit. I may just replace the entire unit.

Probably a wise choice to replace. You might just be chasing the next unknown failure in the condenser. Overall, not that much money.

Haven't done much with the car for a while, been remodeling our main bathroom...
.
I did, however, take some time today and figured out a nifty cup holder. This did require some drilling into the dash but I took a fish finder mount system and secured it into a Craftsman (magnetic) cup holder. It will hold my 20 & 30 oz Yeti Tumbler so I'll be good to go!

On the not-so-good front: My left turn signal circuit is acting up again. It won't blow the fuse but cuts off the front bulb, which makes the rear driver's side bulb blink fast. More digging...

Once you get a car built exactly the he way you want it,
you'll want the perfect wheel/tire/rubber setup:
There's so much more size/ price /compound/brand options in 18"
for what suspension/ you set up.
You want to put trillions of miles on car, or run insane sticky track tires?
Love Tire Racks's closeout sales for 18".
Ebay is also a good source for good priced tires.
There are so many wheel styles and tires/compounds available.

Agreed! I plan on sticking with my cookie cutters and mount the most aggressive tire I can find in that size range. The car needs suspension upgrades, which is planned for in the upcoming months. My main goal is to get her running/driving reliably, while installing a few inexpensive "safari build" items as things progress.

Today's update: New control arms/bushings/ball joints showed up; front spacers (2" lift) spacers, 30mm torsion bars and rear shocks ordered. The rear shocks actually go on a PT Cruiser (they add over 1.5" of additional travel once the new bars are indexed correctly). Pics to come...

Found this Smittybilt rear seat organizer online... I think the organizer was originally designed for several Jeep models but, with a little modification, it fit on the driver's seat better than expected.I had to add additional Velcro since several strap lengths were too long. This will definitely be convenient in organizing a multitude of items, including a first aid kit I'm assembling this weekend.
