windshield seal vs trim, 993 and 944 part numbers
I searched first...
If you check body-> window glazing in the parts manual:
https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/p...2/508u/805000/
Piece 8 is listed with a slew of 944 part numbers, the most recent of which is
Pelican parts has a
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...559-535-07-OEM
However the most recent p/n is a 993 p/n:
This is listed as "modify in workshop" meaning you'll have to cut it to length. The 993 p/n also has a URO version which is much more affordable:
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...3&KeepHeader=Y
So the question is, on a 944S does one order the 944-559-535-07, or the 993-541-925-00? I believe it just presses in, or is there adhesive required?
Thanks in advance

1) I do believe that the 993 seal has replaced the 944 seal, certainly for the later cars (my 968 uses the 993 one)
2) for things like this I would definitely go OEM, URO is ok for some stuff but this seal is so critical al I'm not sure I would risk it.
3) Shouldn't be any adhesive in this one, it should just press into the channel of the glass.

Yes. The 993 one is correct. I just replaced my 944 windshield and used the 9930541-925-00 seal. I have a new factory Porsche 993/944 seal available if you are needing to buy one. I had an extra spare.

Rather than relying on Pelican Parts or other 3rd party sites I always check the Porsche PET and the dealer for updates. P/N 944-559-535-06 at Delaware Porsche (or any other online dealer site) shows this supersedes to the 993-541-925-00, and is listed as "Cabriolet to modify" so it should fit a coupe without modification.
Edit: Hmmm, I just looked up the 944-559-535-07, which isn't shown in the current PET. The dealer site says it fits 1987-1991 944, and it's less expensive ($44) vs the $70 for the 993 part, so I guess either one works?

Tom, and others,
I did check with my local dealer tech and he saw the same notes regarding "modify in workshop". I think that basically the 993 p/n is meant for 993s but you can trim it to fit the 944. The 944 p/n is discontinued but some NOS is available and is cheaper. I'll probably go with the 944 p/n.
Thanks everyone

Coincidence? Read the book. I literally just installed the URO part on my ‘90 cabrio last night. The part I installed is the 993-541-925-00. I believe the difference is that this one is wider. It absolutely is much wider than the original OEM I took off, maybe more than 1/8” wider. This means it extends much deeper onto the painted frame.
the “modification” for cabrio is to cut the loop into a single long piece. Then it can be pressed into the retaining gap. But pressing it it is a nightmare. Address the job squarely, sternly tell the car that you are to boss and fling yourself into the task with enthusiasm. I tried using alcohol to allow the rubber to slide in, but the technique I finally settled on was to get one end started, then pull and stretch the seal, seating in with the handle end of a screwdriver, and then let it relax back into the the normal shape. Do this an inch at a time.
good luck!
