Satin black metallic - how does it actually look?
(Spotted a satin black metallic 944 for sale…)
This seems to be a very rare color. Never seen one in person. For those that have, how does it look. Subtly metallic? Shades of brown or any other color? Opinions?
Thank you.

My favorite 944 exterior colors for all years...........Graphite Metallic, Satin Black Metallic and Baltic Blue Metallic. Satin Black Metallic came out in the 1989 model year 944's. From the Porsche sales brochure..............

Satin Black was used on half the 1988 Celebration Edition 944's. There is nothing 'satin' about it. It's just a glossy metallic black with silver flecks. It's just as metallic as todays cars.

Had one. It's a nice color. A more complex black that makes it look dusty all the time, and there's a slight root beer brown tint to it under the right lighting conditions. I liked it, but much prefer Zermatt Silver or Stone Grey, personally.

My car is SBM. I think it's an interesting color. Like a lot of colors, hard to capture a good representation in a picture. All depends on lighting of course. A decent amount of light really brings out the metallic which shows most in the fenders (i.e. on the curved surfaces).
I had a pic somewhere that had a black car, my car, and a graphite car together. That really showed the differences well since they were all in the same light.
