Downside is you would most likely need a bigger master cylinder to move enough fluid - which means the pedal will be harder. Not a big deal on a 944 with power brakes though.

Cost works out about the same as what I have here. I don't know if the Wilwoods will fit under a 15" wheel though?

Since mine is an 87 I can run the 87 turbo rotors and the GTO calipers, correct? Would the master need upgrading with this setup? Running manual brake currently, stock stuff does well currently.

Yes you could use the 87+ T rotors with the GTO calipers. You likely would need to adjust the shim/spacing of the caliper over the rotor though.
I also am running these un-boosted using the stock 944 MC.

I haven't been on RL in a long time. Nice to see you still fighting the good fight! Someday I'll get my 944 running again and install Volvo 240 GTO brakes.

I am currently upgrading to these on my 87… man these calipers are huge especially compared to the stock NA ones lol. I am still waiting on the 87 turbo rotors but have the GTO lines and calipers. I did a test for today with the stock NA rotor and sure enough it bolted right up. Only modification needed so far was to trim the brake dust shield and as mentioned a washer between the caliper and the knuckle to center the caliper.

Wondering if I should paint the calipers or run them in standard silver? If I paint them I would do bronze or gold to stand out with the red car.

It’s a shame the M030 rotor is 32mm thick otherwise it would probably work as well. Apparently
GTO owners couldn’t fit passed 29-30mm as the pads interfere.

You can put a C5 corvette caliper on the GTO bracket to clear a 32mm rotor.

I am in the process of installing these and if you are running an 87+ car with the 87 951 rotors and 04 GTO calipers it appears you need to shave off material from the inside of the mounting bracket, probably around 1/16 to 1/8in to center it with the rotor. With the NA rotors I needed a washer as a spacer to center. I think the turbo rotor thickness was added to more of the face than distributed.

After taking some measurements the caliper holes need to be milled about 1/8 inward for the pad to sit full face on the rotor (same as Spencer mentioned earlier). The caliper bracket face that mounts to the spindle needs to be filed down 1/16 as the 87 turbo rotor face goes outward more. Reminder this is for 87 NA cars doing the GTO Calipers with 951 rotors.

i did some math and think the amount to shave would be about 1mm to fit the 951 rotor - but i was going off parts measurements i found online. since you have the setup you can measure the gap and confirm actual amount needed to center (since it's a floating caliper it doesn't have to be perfect)

i had to come in about 1/16" to fit the full pad on a 302mm rotor.
since the 951 rotor is 298mm then another 1/16" is about right (1/8" total)

Well finally got these babies on. Sorry some reason I can’t get the system fully bled correctly but my new one man bleeder is trash.

using the 951 rotors you have to grind the bracket about 1/16 but you also have to grind that vane in back about 1/8 as well or you can’t move the bracket forward enough.

These pics were from the first side once I got them figured out second side went way easier

angle grinder or something else?
those surfaces still need to be flat to be parallel to the plane of the rotor once bolted up

cut off wheel used like an angle grinder (couldn’t find my disk) these pics were taken before I finished just giving a rough idea. I leveled them out and checked the clearances with and without pads.

Spencer,

I have a set of calipers coming and have found someone who will trim the Caravan rotor, do the stock brake lines fit?

No, you use the GTO brake hoses and they mate to the 944 hard lines.

Great, my set that is coming has the originals that I can use for fitting. They are some nice SS lines on eBay, I will swap to them if all goes well. Found a shop that will cut the Caravan rotors before they ship them. A set of speed bleeders and fresh DOT 4 and it will be ready for my first trip to Road Atlanta and the PCA track day.
will post a photo of them on the car.
