hey pete!! How to paint an s2....
the most important part of painting your car right is disassembling/reassembling the car correctly and in that fact, at all. Petes car has been pretty much dismantled except for the interior, fenders and doors. Right now i am in the first phase of paint, which is called prep.
I have the car sanded completely down through the second paintjob, and down into the original clearcoat using 80 grit on a dual action sander or a DA. Some has even gone deeper due to the shape that the paint was in due to rock ships, dings etc.

i am also working on making the rear fibreglass 924 bumper fit into the 944 rear end, and the rear valance. I started w/ grinding the bumper ends through the gelcoat to get something to grab onto. Then i used long strand "kittyhair" to build up the end of the bumper. I will eventually use a resin/ mat to cover the filler and make the ends stronger. I could have used a mold and just the resin/mat but time is of the essence w/ this project so i am making the most of time.

i borrowed a stud gun monday from my father to pull out a nice gash in the ps rocker panel. I first used a bar and hammer to knock out the lower lip of the rocker straight w/ the rest, then used the stud gun to pull out the sheet metal. A little filler and sanding, some rock guard spray (3M), and wha la!!

How difficult was it to use the stun gun to pull out the gash? Would a novice like me be able to do it? I have a dent/gash at the rocker panel as well.
Also, I'm guessing you used a hammer for body work, and the bar was a generic straightedge to keep the lip straight?
PM me if you'd prefer.
Looking good...

Im anxious to see XSBoost's handiwork in person. Looks like hes going by the book on it.
The car is going to be pimpin. Petes got a secret add-on yet to be unveiled. I dont think hes mentioned it yet. No, not an ironing board rear wing. Its a real ****burger though. Think big. Ive been sworn to secrecy.

I like to see progress!!!
Dan.. one question.. arn't you supposed to apply the chip guard about 10 minutes before you shoot the base coat? If that stuff hardens up and you toss paint over it, the paint will chip off.
10,000 miles, 3 autocrosses, and 7 high speed runs on mine, not 1 rock chip. Check that can!
