Hi all,

I recently bought a 1984 944. Car has been well maintained with records going back to purchase but looking under the hood all the hoses/lines still seem to be rubber. I have the Haynes manual and original workshop manuals but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere to the following info:

Is the Lindsey racing kit (https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Por...A-944-VAC.html) the same as this kit https://944online.com/air-fuel-syste...-hose-kit.html If not, should both the vacuum lines and vacuum hoses be replaced?

Additionally, I assume the radiator (cooling system https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Par...GHOSE9441.html) hoses and heat hoses (https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Por...441-BHK-S.html) are separate as well? Would you guys recommend the Lindsey racing silicone replacements for these as well?

Other lines I have read to replace: fuel lines and brake hoses. Anything else?

You could add the clutch hydraulic hose to your list. If it fails, you're stranded...

Having owned 2 cars of this vintage, I can tell you that any original hoses will be toast by now. It will cost you some money but personally I like to baseline my new to me cars with all new hoses in the engine compartment.
I can't advise you on what's in a Lindsey or 944online kits. That's their job. But if you want to be in control of your project, download the PET (https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...artscatalogue/). You can see all the hoses you would need and identify the Porsche part numbers. The PET is confusing as the hoses are on several different drawings. Hopefully, the label in the engine compartment for the hoses is still intact. If you look at it long enough, it all starts to make sense. Not a knock against the 2 firms you mention but Jason at Paragon-Products is very familiar with the 944 and will get you fixed up.

​​​Harvey has pointed to the PET parts list manuals. Silicone vs rubber is a matter of choice and looks. If you want to make the engine compartment look glitzy, choice silicone for the large diameter hoses.
For each p/n, there are options for rubber and silicone. Price each p/n, silicone be more expensive.
My 83 944 is a race car. All coolant hoses are rubber. All small vacuum hoses are black silicone (subject to higher temperature than coolant hoses) Special large air intake hose is silicone because there is no rubber alternative.
Decide where you want to spend $$$, looks or just functionality or specific material because it is in a harsh environment.
There will be other situations that parts, wiring, etc needs to be replaced. Pace yourself in spending wisely or if you want to show off your engine compartment spend $$$$.

​That is true, but the down side is replacing it could cause lot's of unintended consequences. The fittings are frozen, the clutch master cylinder fitting cannot be accessed, the clutch hydraulics cannot be bleed after replacing the clutch hydraulic hose, etc. Not a smart move unless the clutch MC needs to be replaced or the hose is leaking.

944Online sells a complete vacuum hose kit; it even comes with that small J-boot under the intake manifold and all new hose clamps! Guess how much Porsche sells that hose alone...?
