Hatch hauling
Not hauling things in your hatch, but transporting a replacement hatch.
I'm thinking of buying another hatch for my 944. Haven't looked at it yet, but on mine the spoiler is starting to look kind of sad.
I have a full sized pickup, but the hatch isn't going to fit between the wheel wells. I'm thinking of building a platform that sits above the wheel wells, and then setting the hatch on that, and crossing a couple ratchet straps over the hatch.
Good idea? Bad idea? Other ideas? I just don't want to go over a bump on the way home and have the hatch shatter.

You can absolutely haul a hatch in the the hatch! No, not what you're asking, but yeah, if you rotate the hatch 90 degrees it'll fit in the hatch area under the glass, with the seats down... have hauled hatches that way in the back of my first 924...

That's the info I needed. Looking at the car in the garage, I thought the hatch was longer than it was wide. It's not. Only 45" from the top of the hatch to the end of the spoiler. I don't have to build anything, just turn it sideways. I can probably even close the tonneau cover.
