Unhappy '86 951 R.i.p

Well guys, it's been a while since I have posted or even lurked on the board. My car has been declared a total loss and I am in the middle of litigation with the adverse carrier.

What's worse is I will have to wait until I turn 40 to get my next Porsche, maybe. I bought my wife a convertible BMW for her birthday instead. (She just turned 40.) I couldn't bring myself to buy another P-car for a while. Nothing seems to be good enough or it is too expensive.

Have fun guys. I will be posting for bits and pieces for sale soon.

i'm very sorry to hear about your loss/lawsuit... litigation is never a fun thing.

that being said, if all the wheels are in good shape, i would be interested.

let the vultures commence the circling...

Really sorry to read this, but somehow I'm sure that your next Porsche will be your best one yet!

P.S. Do a search for an Excel spreadsheet posted awhile back showing what fellow Rennlister Lance M. got for "bits and pieces" of his 86 951 and you may be pleasantly surprised.

We all knew it was a lost but hopefully it will work out for you in the end. Also are your seals good? I would like to get all the door seals, rear hatch, sunroof and all if you are going to be selling bits and pieces of them. Let me know seb928s@ij.net

Thanks and good luck it's going to be a long wait with all the law crap.

Also, on the subject of dealing with an adverse insurance carrier, read Tom R's recent follow-up post on his dealings with Geico. The thread was within the last week. It'll give you hope.

Brian McCoy and I both looked at this car. I beat him to the punch. He did however find a marvelous car.
I won't be purchasing the vehicle after this is done. I have worked in the insurance industry and will be raking the carrier over the coals. I have no love lost and whole host of notes about conversations I have had with the adjuster. I want him removed from his position and the carrier warned. I know what to do and how to do it. I am pissed.
Besides, the car has been spanked hard. The engine is dead, there aren't many, if any straight body panels. The interior is good, but it has been in the elements for a period of time.

Time for dinner, good night all.

on a related topic...Are any of the A/C parts okay? Cause if I get my car running soon, I need the cool air...and what color interior? If its burgandy...than hey...i can use some parts! Let me know!

sorry to be a vulture, but again, I am very sorry to hear that, and may you soon have another one!!!

The car is currently sitting in my insurance company's salvage yard in Gainesville. Everything worked on the car, including the clock! It had just been finished when the accident happened.

Look up the post "Hit in rear at 35-40 mph," The trans and engine both took direct hits. If someone wants to buy the car as a whole from the ins co, I will find out how much they want.
