My A/C blows hot air; Please help.
I took my car to a mechanic today to have the A/C looked at. He said that the system held the proper pressure (30 at the low pressure end and 120 at the high pressure end is what I think he said). He also said my system was full of freon and that it should work. Unfortunately all I get is very slightly cooled air.
I checked the heater clips and they appear to be intact.
What else could be wrong?
Thanks,
Mickey

What do I do to make the doors move? I will try to test it by turning on the car and then turning the heater control **** from cold to hot to see if anything down there moves.
Thanks,
Mickey

I have been dealing with something similar...seems my center vents only open at higher temp settings, then close when the temp control is cranked to cold.
I am able to see the center vents open and close (use a flashlight) when I have the A/c on and the temp **** set at about midway; fortunately for me I can keep the car cool using the side vents...
Let me know what you find; I've been chasing this issue myself...

I just found out the turning the hot/cold control **** on the dash does cause the heater clip part under the dash to move. It moves very slowly and not a tremendous amount. I may have to bite the bullet and take the car to a mechanic. I use my car for commuting and its tough to drive in traffic without A/C. That could lead to road rage.

sounds like you guy's may have bad climate control units. I do not have much experience with them though. I do know they are about 400 to rplace though. Not sure how you find out if its the servo motor or the head unit.. Good luck. Might try a search on the climate control unit..

In my case, the air blows cold but the center vents are blocked at the lowest temp settings. Since I've also checked my heater clip, and I know the servos on the passenger side (well, at least ONE servo) are moving the flaps, I've wondered about the climate control unit. In my case, I don't use the car as a daily driver so it is more of an annoyance...
I'll do some research and report back...

Have you checked the heater control valve? It's a common failure point, and it it's stuck, then you'll have heat going to the dashboard even while the AC is on.

If by turning the **** it is only moving the heater clip a very slight amount, then may I make a suggestion. The plugs for the heater flapper control, and the plug for the floor vent open close control, are the SAME plug. Try switching the two plugs to see if you have a bad motor problem (moving the heater flapper). If the floor vent control can move freely when correct, and it is able to move the heater control fine, you have a problem in your switch, if the floor vent control moves good in its original spot and cannot move the heater flapper motor, you need a new flapper motor.
Ahhh yes, my ability to contribute back.

Poindex a similar issue happened on my 928 S4. The heater valve on these cars (same one is used I believe on all 944s) will fail causing the vacuum operated valve to either stick open or stick closed on the heater valve. When it is open, hot coolant flows in to help heat the interior of the car. Since the valve is vacuum operated and sealed, it will have to be replaced. I've never done a heatervalve on a 944 before but I can tell you doing one on the 928 was a PITA and believe me it felt more like a damn hemroid!
The heater valve is located at the very back of the motor just before the firewall. It wouldn't hurt to take a look, if you can get to it, try replacing it....my 2 cents...
Good Luck

A quick check....Have you tried touching the high (small line) and low (large line) pressure lines (on the exposed metal surfaces) to see if they are getting hot and cold respectively? I have an S2 and both lines run in parallel accros the firewall in back of the motor. You should feel a very noticeable temperature difference between the two of them when the system is working properly. If you don't, (as in my case) you have some other problem with the system other than the climate control directional doors.
