You can get some more power out of the motor, but it can get pretty expensive for what you get in return.
Since you just got it, save some money for any repairs that may be coming up. A good first step to improving the car's handling would be to replace worn-out suspension parts, like bushings and shocks.

Really the 944 or 924S are not really powerfull cars. They were pretty good back in their day and adequate today.
Not much you can do increase engine power without speeding lots of money. Lots of money is like $3-5k. There IS alot you can do optimize the handling. First one is improve the driver. In 99% of cases driver are not ready to get all they can from the car handling wise. Some time spent in autocross and driver education (track events) can go along way to getting more from the car.

Yes, maintenance first. Too many people buy a stereo or some pointless bolt-ons and overlook the timing belt or motor mounts. Keep some $$$ in reserve in case you need to replace your AT trans dampener too. That being said: tires, sways, shocks will be money better spent than cold air intake, cone filters, throttle cams and other wallet lightening mods.

Ah yes, tires! They're the only thing that makes contact with the road; a $10,000 motor and $5,000 suspension will still be slow if you have $100/set tires.
But, as M758 pointed out, the driver is the weakest part of the equation at first. Spend some money improving your skills, because even in a worn-out automatic with a shot suspension (not saying yours is), the car is still beyond a beginner's skills.

Well maintence wise I am currently having the following:
1. New Rad
2. New Therostat
3. New Timing belt
4. All the engine seals
5. New fuel filter
6. New brakes
7. New water pump
8. Trans filter and fluid change
9. Oil change with synth oil
10. Air conditioner replaced
11. Tune-up
12. All new belts
13. New battery
I just got the car 2 weeks ago. I had it for one day. Then off to the shop. I wanted to make sure before I drove it I had all the mainatence stuff done 1st so I could drive it knowing it runs good and there are no hidden problems. The car has been looked over and it is in great shape. However once I get it back to enjoy I was just wondering if there were any mods that could be done to help increase overall performance. Based on the responses I guess I have done all I can possibly and look forward to enjoying my 1st porsche
