I'm not doing this for any performance reasons.. The car can't be driven because the chunk blocks the exhaust.. I can't cut it out... I can't afford to tow it to a shop to get cat replaced.
I do have the exhaust unbolted from the engine , so it has some movement...
It's also only accessable from the rear flange - still in the car..
aside from the "rear" piece that is rattling around, how thick is the part in front of the wire mesh ??

I know, yea that's a bummer (saw your original post). I was just speaking generally about people gutting cats / removing cats which seems to come up every once in a while here - people do it mostly for performance reasons I guess. If you wanted, I could use my AAA membership to get it towed for you - I think I get 3 frees a year and I've got two left until December. . .
