I dont think a reduction of 100 bucks is gonna send people running...nice car though, if I had the money and could tolerate the body flex Id be all over it!!! Z06's are incredible cars.

get the best of both worlds. I love the kick of the V8 in my Z28. It is addictive.

The 350 HP 2004 GTO is heavily discounted. plus it is only 33k to begin with. scrap the idea of a Z06 and get a GTO, keep the S2 and put classic/exotic insurance on it.

The GTO forums list ways to get 400hp for next to nothing, the car has an IRS and no trunk space just like the Vette, plus there are two seats in the back for emergencies.

Just a thought. It worked for me with the Z28 and S2 and 68 Firebird convert. I am willing to sell my Z28 to lease a GTO.

Oh, one other thing. The interior of the GTO is much much nicer than the interior of my 93 Z28 or 89 S2, is much nicer than the interior of the Z06, and nicer than the interior of the C6 vette.

An insider at GM said to me he wished the new vette took the cue from the GTO when it came to interiors.

Tom R. you are right on with your GTO statements. Maybe I'm biased though, as I bought one in Sept and do not regret it at all. The car sold itself when I saw it at the autoshow in Chicago last year. I didn't know a thing about the car, and didn't read the info sign before I sat in it. I loved the interior then looked at the engine bay and saw that it was RWD, then I looked at the sign. GTO - 350 HP. It took the dealers until Sept to deal on them, and I got it for 6K off sticker. Love the Porsche, and love the goat. They are different enough that they can share the same garage and be happy...

Tom,
You do have a point wrt the GTO. However, I am really attracted to the lines of the Z06 and it does corner and stop very well. Plus, the Z06 is ~650LBS lighter with 55 more HP. To tell you the truth, when I drove one I was very surprised by its performance. Not just its power but the ride quality (the last Corvette I drove was a circa 1980's vintage), the brakes and the suspension overall. Yes, the interior of the C5 Corvette is still a sticking point but in honesty I am not impressed with the interior of the 944/968 either. Compared to my 1989 911...well, there really is no comparison. Don't get me wrong I have truly enjoyed my S2 Cab. Both driving it and working on it. I still think that they are cars that were way ahead of their time. I simply fell in love the a Black on Black Z06. It is absolutely sinister looking and it sounds like it just left a race track. This car is so fast you can really scare yourself. It is a hell of a lot of car stock right out of the box. If you change cams, intakes and exhaust you can NET over 400 HP to the rear wheels. That is quite a lot of juice. Frankly, I cannot really phathom a desire for more HP than what the car already has. 99% of all owners don't have the skill to utilize half that much HP.

You have a sweet collection of vehicles there Tom and thanks for your input.

As for Porsche-o-phile's comments/concerns...thank you for your suggestions. I do appreciate it. We shall see where it goes but I have to tell you, I think I will get what I am asking once any of the interested parties who have already contacted me see my car in person. $10k for my car is a really good deal. I realize that I could probably get $1500 or maybe even $2000 more for my car by waiting but then again, the cream puff I am buying would be gone in two months. I may have to spend that $1500 or $2000 extra profit just to get the same condition/mileage Z06, IF I can find another like the one I am currently going to purchase. Just explaining my thought process.

Besides, it's only $10k it's NOT $100k. In today's world if someone can't come up with $10k to buy a Porsche convertible (even on short notice) then they simply cannot afford a Porsche convertible.

Max

The guy I bought my Z28 from last year had a yellow Z06 in his one car garage. He did everything he could to turn my Z28 into a Vette then finally gave in.

The Z06 is an awesome car and understand your desire. When the GTO first came out I figured I would replace the Z28 in three years with a nice used one. With people saying they are getting 6k plus off sticker and the residual on a three year lease still around 18k the thought of leasing a new one is very tempting. something i had not thought about until I saw the size of the discounts.
