I think its a pretty cool project, but object to the use of a red background as my eyes started to convulse and bleed. I like this swap a helluva lot better than dropping in a cheby, which happens to our cars at times.

yeah the 1jz motor is sweet, the jdm version of the 2jz/7mgte that came in the early supras but never to the US. Factory around 300hp, very easily into the 500hp range w/o much effort. This guy is scary though. The front suspension has big spacers to lower the cross member so the engine would fit! That changes suspension geometry, and if he hits a good speed bump the engine/front end could end up on the ground. SCARY!!!! Really why not just make a bump in the hood before you do something dumb like that.

Knowing what it takes to do a swap, I say good job to him. You all get your panties in a bunch over the slightest thing... sheesh.

7MGTE is the turbo motor from the 1986-1992 Turbos I did a swap into a 1984 (Second Gen) for one of my buddies in college. It was awesome!

It just seems like too much work and changing to the original 944 setup. Unique yes, and quick- maybe...but justifiable? I dont know. An LT1 or whatever Vette engine they are dropping in as a direct swap seems like a better way to go. Im sure that engine turboed or supercharged would also pack massive power to the ground.
Whatever floats your boat.

I would never put a supra engine in a porsche, however I would put a chevy, but that's only if I had the time, money, and need. I'm happy with the regular old NA engine for now... As for this guy, it's his car, he's in an area with a sparse porsche population, and this is probably the most feasible way for him to put his porshce on the road again, short of having a 944 engine shipped to him for more than it's worth. The only thing I disagree with is the corner-cutting. He should have bumped the hood like someone already said, and nixing the brake booster is not a good idea either. I'm sure he could have gotten some other engine that would have fit better... while a 944 engine is probably not available, I'm sure a more reasonable candidate than that monster supra engine IS available.

While I wouldn't do such an engine swap, I wouldn't call it a horrific idea.
Hey, at least he didn't put ghetto graphics, a jet-fighter wing and neon lights around the bottom of the car! (For now...)

One more thing...
It's creativity like this guy that got our cars made in the first place! What if Dr. Porsche never tinkered with a VW engine and created the 356?!?
Just a counterpoint...

Okay, I didn't read his cardomain thing too carefully, but I am assuming he is using the stock NA's tranny. With all that power he is gonna be going through R&P gears. So, even if he gets his engine to work fine, it will be for a limited time. Shortly there after he will be needing a new tranny.
