I've got an HPI RS4 RTR3, and I looked around for a 944 body, but didn't find one at any of the major manufacturer's sites or retail stores...does anyone know of a smaller company that makes them, perhaps?

I believe the closest thing to a old school p-car was a body of a 914 i saw a few months ago. Dont think anyone ever made a 944. The closest you can get is a 240SX probably...maybe with a liittle custom work you can get something close.

I have that same car, the HPI that is.
I haven't seen a 944, nor the 968. But one body that looks really good is the Carerra GT, due to the low slung lines, the heatsink of the engine sticks out the back which looks pretty cool.
I've still got the cheesy Stratus body, I've been trying to decide whether I want the Carerra or the Murcielago. I also know there's a pretty good looking 911 body out there, but I like how the other's expose the engine heatsink for better cooling.
Since you are spending the money, definately get you a header and new tuned pipe for the car. The header alone probably increased my top speed by 2-3mph(which is a noticeable increase due to the scale of these cars). You'll want to use a dremel to port match the header to the exhaust port, for the best increase.

The only P-car bodies I have seen (in any mm size) are 993's, Carrera GT, and 996 derivatives. I have two of the latter.
Would be nice to have a 944/968. I have thought about trying to do one somehow. But I don't have time to attend to my 1:1 scale cars.................

If a mock-up or clay model could be made, I know of a mold-maker and vacuum plactic Vacu-form guy in Cleveland..
Hmmm I wonder what THAT would cost..

Yah, new parts would be nice. I don't have the money for anything right now, my real car needs to be fixed first And the RC doesnt run right now either! It's gone about 1 gal. of fuel, and I think it needs a piston/sleeve rebuild, etc. That's like 50 bucks right there. sigh.
Anyways, I've just been wondering for a while and thought I would find out about it for the future. I've got a pretty nice Supra body with working headlights and brakelights, mounted in some cool hand made buckets I bought from a guy up in Oregon. I wonder if I have a pic of my car on this pc here...

The Myth Busters go through vacuum molds every show - find a scale 944 body (about 10 years ago I bought a cheap plastic toy 944 for a friend's kid that would have been perfect) and then find a vacuum mold place.
Toy car in question was destroyed in a horrifying accident with dad's oldsmobile.

They are out there. I assume the scale you are talking about is in the 1/10th scale range?
Below are pics of a 1/10 scale 944 R/C body that a fellow rennlister purchased on ebay about a year ago. I'm still looking for one myself.......I have a 993 GT2, would love the 951 shell to interchange with it.

A large Scirocco group I was in was able to get an out-of-production Scirocco MKII body put back into a production run of 50 - that might be something we could look in to since Jeremy has proof a 951 body having been made.
Jeremy - any markings on the mold that indicate what manufacturer?
Add me to the list of R/C people in here, I've got more in R/C than my 944 (not 951's). My R/C stuff is also way faster than any 944.

Either that guy has HUGE hands, or that's a 12th scale car. I'd guess at a 180mm body, if that. It could simply be the angles, but holding up my body in the same manner, mine is much wider, and a couple of inches(wheel well to wheel well) longer.
