Door handle broken...
My exterior driver side door handle just broke tonight. The part you pull with your fingers just snapped in half. Anyone got a good 1984 944 drivers door handle for sale?

Unless you have electric locks which isn't likely you can source the early handles from the 924 as well as the 83-85 944. You can swap out locks on the handles easily. Be sure and check the lower tab near the rear of the handle where the lifting lever pivots. These are notorious for breaking. You can use the later Porsche script handles but your early lock cylinders are shorter and won't swap out unless you have a locksmith rekey the later style to match the ignition. I've been through 3 handles this year between the two cars. Someone here will have a parts car to source them from, it might take some time though. Keep bumping it up until you find one.

Gerald,
Be careful when you are replacing your handle. When you pull the handle take care to make sure that you try to leave the lock core in place, if you do pull it out if it is dry you may loose /drop the tumblers then you are looking for a new one and a locksmith to put Humpty Dumpty together again.

Never unbolt and remove the lock cylinder from the handle without a key in it, as Michael says 'Dem parts are real small' If a key is in the cylinder the retainers for the pins can't fall out. I found out the hard way my first time.
