I need to check the make of the oven. I got that one from Harbor Frieght. Nothing special but it does the job.

Been around these 944's for awhile now , but as I have always said , the 944 is the one for me as I just like the body style. Now I see this post and what you have done with these engines. Not just good , but GREAT work, and you can be proud of your work . Keep up the good work and keep this breed alive.

Another very interesting and educational thread!

Bluecamaro, it's great to hear this insider's points. I'm considering having a few parts of my engine powdercoated before re-assembly (oil pan, valve cover etc.) and am curious what types of powder are good for these items (that will operated a elevated temperatures). What questions related to this might I ask a prospective shop?

Also, is there an effective way for powder coaters to cleanly mask out surfaces that one would not want powder coated?

Learning these answers from you might help me be a little more intelligent when I go talk to shops.

Thanks!

(and BTW Helstrm, that is a nice intake!)

Temp should not be an issue with the oil pan or the valve cover. If you engine gets hot enough to ruin the powder you have much bigger problems. The only parts that get too hot for normal powder is the exhaust, Turbo and Brake Calipers(Under track use)

You can get a high temp silicone tape that works perfect for this. I used it for my 2 tone cam tower. Clean, tape, apply 1st color, bake, cool, cut powder at tape line, remove tape, re-tape, apply 2nd color, bake, cool, cut powder at tape line, remove tape, have beer.

Granny.. family is most important! Sounds like you are right where you need to be. My folks moved out of Jersey last July, so I won't be back that way unless my old friends tie the knot and request my attendance. If, and when that happens, the drivers seat is yours.
You coming to 944 Fest?
