Isn't it fun!!! What color scheme are you going for with the yellow? Interesting...

I had a blast doing all my stuff. One of the better parts of my rebuild!

What kind of surface prep did you guys use? I've looked at a few sites, any good sites that you've found to help a first timer? I'm looking for a used oven now and plan on doing alot of small parts.

Bead blast and / or a solvent wash. Follow up with a soap and water wash and a blast of compressed air. Not much else to it.

That's it, I'm buying one. Perry that looks fantastic.

On the cheap, you can use any old electric oven and the gun that Helstrm has there can be had for around $70.

Check out Eastwood for more serious equipment and a nice selection of powders.

Yep, I've been viewing that site for a couple of days trying to come up with a scheme. This is interesting (click me). I wonder what the possibilities are with ceramic for the home user.

Perry that is absolutely incredible. Hope to see you and the car at the fest. I want to get into this powdercoating deal too, just need to find a junker oven and a place to put it in my overstuffed garage.

Curing at 500 degrees for 1 hour isn't too bad. You'll need a paint gun, it's not a powder.

Okay, after I finish puchasing a few items on my list, I am going to get that kit from Columbia Coatings as well as some of that ceramic stuff!

They also sell an infared curing light that they say works very well. I am sure it will take more time but I may powder coat my headers so I will need that.

I have the columbia coatings heat lamp, which is just a mr heater propane heater on top of a stand that they manufactured. I'm pretty happy with it but some shapes are really difficult to heat correctly, and are hard to keep at the right temp without ovearheating. Its great for big pieces, but I think I need to find a junker oven to do smaller pieces.

I'm a big fan of Columbia Coatings powders, and they are very friendly/helpful besides.

Great Customer service also. I can find better deals but I will stick with them. I am staying away from the lamps for now. I like the way the ovens cure them.. Oh and if you plan on doing a lot of coating I would upgrade the gun....
