Default Finally got the F'n starter out. Starter ring looks good. PICS!!

I took a few days off from the effort for a sanity checked before diving in again today. What a bitch. It took forever to grind off the head to the bolt. I thought I was going to kill my Dremel in the process.

The real bitch of the whole thing is that once the head was off, I could spin the bolt by hand

The starter gear is shot as the teeth are about half their original width. I only got a pic of the flywheel before the batteries died so I'll post more pics tomorrow of that mess.

This looks OK to me as only the edges seem scraped.

Found some batteries for the camers. Here's the starter with the new good one on the left.

You might want to clean up those sharp edges on the FW teeth with a Dremel. They look a bit chewed up by the bad starter and could cause some binding.

It happens when you start your car while its already running.

Just throwin in my 2 cents...

I just installed a rebuilt starter into my car, and at first it was making a bit of a grinding noise. I decided to take a look and found that when the starter was rebuilt... they coated the majority of it in some kind of black paint. Well, the terminals on the starter were covered with this paint. I used some acetone, and cleaned them off and the problem seems to be gone.
